What Willamette Leadership Academy has done for me...
May 2017
"Willamette Leadership Academy helps students reach their full potential, but it is not a one way street. As a sixth grader, I attended public school and didn't have a lot of self confidence and was bullied. my seventh grade year I was enrolled into WLA and finished my freshman year there. The staff members try to help you in any way possible, showing you that someone actually cares. WLA helps build that strong teamwork feeling and you get a type of family that sticks with you forever. Willamette Leadership Academy taught me morals and helped me create an image and the value of persistence that even at a different school, helps me and makes me a better and successful person. I appreciate everything that you have done for me. Thank You!"

"It has changed my daughter's life and what used to be her "I don't care attitude". She has turned into a young adult overnight with an understanding of just how important education is for her future. Structure and self discipline has been great for her! She has gone from almost a straight F student to now knows what a GPA is and has in the first trimester pulled off a 3.0 GPA! A huge thank you goes to those of you who has had a part in her wonderful transformation!"

"I enrolled my daughter at WLA as a last resort. After numerous years of failing in school, hanging with a bad crowd, disrespect of everyone, rotten attitude and fear for her future I was told by a counselor from her old school about WLA. When I enrolled her I felt a big weight off my shoulders. It has been such a blessing to my family. She's only been going since just before Thanksgiving and the change is AMAZING! She likes going to school. Her attitude has improved dramatically and she now communicates with me. I wish more people knew there was an alternative for their children. Before WLA I was in fear for my daughter but now I am excited for her future. Thank you to everyone at WLA for what you do, who you are and what you represent. You are changing not only children's lives but their families lives. Be proud to be part of WLA, I know I am! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!"

"I've been at Willamette Leadership Academy since 6th grade. I am now in 10th grade. Overall it has helped me grow as a person. Before I got there I was home-schooled all my life but the staff there helped a lot getting me used to a new environment. Since I arrived there I've always managed to maintain a GPA between 3.9 and 4.0 no matter how much trouble I was in. In my opinion this is a great school and its not as bad as it may seem!!!! :)"

"I have nothing but PRAISE AND HONOR whenever I talk about WLA! My son has changed in the last 2 years into a better human being- more caring and compassionate. Public school was a disadvantage to him and WLA has successfully given him advantages. THANK YOU!!!"

"I attended the end of year ceremony last week and I wanted to thank you. When I had the chance to speak to you afterwards I was able to thank you for believing in my son before becoming too emotional.
I really don’t feel that I can adequately express my appreciation for you and the staff at WLA. From the very first tour to today the energy and care shown by you and your staff is just amazing. I become very emotional when I think about where Dalton was a year and a half ago and where he is today. The future I saw for him then and the future I see for him now is drastically different. I credit you and the staff at WLA for that. Before joining WLA Dalton was not performing or even trying in school. He had checked out of life and was certainly headed down the wrong path. I saw this and knew, as a parent, that he was capable of so much more. It has been a relief to find a school and group of people that care about my son. He isn’t another student sitting in a desk. Each and every staff member has encouraged him, disciplined him and has held him to high standards. The consequences are clear. Praise and encouragement are given. WLA has seen the potential in him and believes in him. Because of this he is now a student with goals and strives to be a better person everyday. We have met a few times, typically due to a poor choice Dalton has made, but in every interaction you have been encouraging, positive and respectful. Building Dalton up to be a better person and make better choices. He was able to walk out of those meetings knowing what he did wrong and the different choices he needed to make in the future. His previous experience was not so. In 4j he was only beat down and made to feel worthless. Thank you. Thank you for taking the time to care about my son. Thank you for believing in my son. Not only I have felt this but Dalton commented after our first meeting with you. He said “he really cares about me”. So the most measurable change in Dalton would of course be his grades and his physical fitness. But it is the unmeasurable that I contribute directly to you, your staff and WLA. It is his self-respect, the pride he now has and the ambition to have goals to improve himself. He now believes in himself, he believes that he is worthy and he is a good kid. He believes people care about him. This is directly related to the wonderful job you and your staff does at WLA.
I can never thank you, your staff or WLA for forever changing my life and my sons life in such a positive dramatic way that you have. I look forward to another 4 years with WLA while Dalton completes High School.
I have Cc’d the Superintendent Office so you and your team can receive the recognition that is very much deserved. I hope they understand the importance that WLA brings to the community, students and families. Please feel free to share with your team, the board or others. I can never say enough great things about WLA.Thank you from the bottom of my heart !!"

My name is Devlin Fehly. I went to WLA my sophomore year. This school really does help everyone who goes there. The staff members always put in a constant effort to do what is best for any of the students. I graduated from WLA in 2013 as a CPL. I am now a Specialist in the United States army. I have been over seas on deployment since being in the army and I can honestly say that this school made me a much better person and has made a huge impact in my life as well as my whole family. Thank you to all of the staff members who helped me over all the years!

"TO THE STUDENTS OF THE WILLAMETTE LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
On October 1, 2016 we were with you in the pouring rain at the Vietnam Traveling Wall. Because of you the wall was removed and packed up in record time. In just 2 hours the park was returned to its original condition. You were amazing.
Since that day, we have been singing your praises wherever we go. Both as individuals and as a team you were outstanding and it was a pleasure to work beside you (although we'll have to admit that you did most of the work while we watched). Every time we picked up one of the rakes we brought with us and started to rake, one or the other of you would come up and tell us that we didn't need to do that. 'That's what we are here for,' you'd say and follow it with, 'Can I borrow your rake?'
Everything you were asked to do you did with enthusiasm and speed. Your team spirit was inspiring. Your 'can do' attitudes will take you wherever you want to go. We could see that you have learned the power of a team that really cares about each other.
What we saw in you that day was a breath of fresh air to us. You were there with us in every way. It is rare today to see young people who are an active part of a gathering. We felt like you were there in both body and spirit.
My husband and I want to thank you for the memories you left us with, which gives us hpe for a better future, through people like you.
Sending you best wishes for your future,
Cynthia and Jim Rogers
